There are some photographers who have mastered the art of Black & White (Grayscale). One such person goes by the name of “Transgress” on flickr.
She has mastered the art of using tones, shades and lighting combined with creative composition and great editing to produce excellent black and white finishes.
Her work is truly an inspiration.
Check out her photostream here.

I wanted to test the WordPress Monotone theme that alllows WordPress to be used as a true photoblog (one photo per page) and changes color to match the shade of each photo. I also wanted to test having a site on wordpress.com as opposed to hosting on my own domain as I’ve always done. I decided to pursue one of my longtime goals, which is to have a photoblog solely for my black & white photos. The result is Blog In Gray at http://grayscalephoto.wordpress.com.
All i do is add a blog at wordpress.com and use wordpress photo gallery feature to add one medium photo (centered) per page. The result is a neat little photoblog that changes to match the shade of each photo.
The bads:
- the caption script ” [/caption] “came up in all pages.
- the description text for each photo did not show up at all.
The goods:
- related posts automatically generated.
- wordpress does everything..all I do is to add an image and include categories, tags, etc.
- wordpress automatically includes google sitemap for SEO (search engine optimization).
- the comments box being always open makes it easier to get comments.
- archives page makes it possible to show archives by categories.
I have learnt that it is best to use large images in monotone as opposed to the medium sizes I have used so far.
